Sexual reproduction helps to maintain the continuity of Life on the earth and it helps in the increase of immunity to the new generation offspring’s. The sexual reproduction in the human beings is done through the sexual reproductive organs. They sexual organs secrete substances called spermatozoa and ovum. this article focuses on analyzing the differences between spermatozoa and ovum.
SPERMATOZOA
Human male reproductive system consists of a pair of testis. Testis produces millions of Spermatozoa during copulation. Sperms are ejaculated through urethra. once after ejaculated, the sperms have a life expectancy of about 48 hours within the female reproductive tract. Sperm is composed of three parts they are head, mid peace, tail. The process of production of spermatozoa is called as spermatogenesis.
OVUM
Female reproductive System of human beings consists of a pair of ovaries present in the abdominal region. Ovaries produce ‘Ova’ The female gametes. The formation of ‘Ova’ in the ovary is called as Oogenesis. The ‘ova’ are developed follicles of ovaries and the development and production of ‘ova’ is called as Ovulation. if the Ovum is paired with sperm then fertilization occurs in the female reproductive system.
DIFFERENCES TABLE
SPERMATOZOAOVUMSpermatozoa are formed in the male reproductive system.Ovum is produced in the female reproductive system. LIFE SPANThe lifespan of sperm says about 24 to 72 hours.The lifespan of Ovum is only 25 hours. PRODUCED INThe testis produces sperm in males.The ovaries produce Ovum in females.
CONCLUSION
From the above discussion, we can conclude that both male and female reproductive systems have different structures and functioning. The sperm and Ovum plays an important role in fertilization.
